Puerto Rico – Beach!
About half of our trip was spent lazing around on beaches. This post is going to show off both the lazing and the beaches.

Near where we stayed is a little town called Rio Grande. Not much to it, but there is a bakery on the side of the main highway that is amazing. Best Cubanos I’ve ever had, best Media Noches I’ve ever had, and some damned delicious pastries. We ate here multiple times.

This is the beach in front of the condo we rented.

I love the little anoles eveywhere. They were far braver than the iguanas.

A roadside restaurant. Where we got drinks and food and hope to visit again.

The parking lot for the restaurant – park at your own risk and you better be ready to stay for awhile.

Some of the best food of the whole trip – just a little roadside stand, no english spoken, we pointed at what we wanted (and tried with our terrible Spanish) and handed over money and went our merry way on. Pork and chicken and potatoes and plantains…it was heaven.

My favorite person in the whole wide world.

That is the best little food/alcohol shack we found. Right at the edge of the condo-beach! We made friends with one of the locals and he tooks us over there, bought us a round, helped us order food (shark and conch and empanadas and I’m just drooling thinking about it), and introduced us to lots of folks. The poor guy gave me his number and told me to contact him next time we’re on the island and you better believe I’m going to. If nothing else, so I can bring him a bottle of booze from the states that he may not be able to get easily as a thank you.
Thanks to him, I got my mai tai (and pina colodas) on the beach. 🙂
