Travel to Ireland

Well.  Time for me to head off again.  K & R L are staying in Cologne another day and then heading to Amsterdam.  I’m heading off to Ireland.  Hopefully they’ll have free water there.  And vegetables.  I never thought I’d say that.

I need breakfast and coffee.  Look!  Dunkin’ Donuts!  Hurray!  I hate to admit it, but I’m missing food from home.

I love train stations for some reason.  Why isn’t this big in America?

Seriously.  I would take trains so much more than I would fly if we had them.  I’d go visit my family and NM in general more if we had trains.  Look how nice this is.

Heading to Frankfurt once more.  From there, I’ll fly into Killarney.

This is pretty awesome.  Instead of a computer screen, this is one of those flip-screens.

From here, there is a sad dearth of pictures.  Things did not go smoothly.  My flight to Killarney was delayed by a couple of hours, which was no big deal.  Then it was delayed again.  And then cancelled.  So everyone on this flight was transferred to another airport to catch a plane to Dublin, and then Killarney.  Except that flight to Dublin was delayed.  And delayed.  And eventually, there was no alternative but to fly into Dublin and stay the night – they at least gave me the option (after I threw a fit) of taking a train from Dublin to Killarney instead of sitting in the airport again the next day.  Those of us on the flight to Dublin made the best of it.  I drank a beer with an Irish nun who cussed like my Grandma J.  We were joined by an American gal living in Germany, an Indian businessman who said he traveled entirely too much to make friends, and then by two Irish guys who then proceeded to buy the entire table beer.  It was a great way to spend the time at least.  Eventually, at half past midnight, we boarded a plane to Dublin.  I ended up going with the American-Living-in-Germany to a hostel that had room for me.  Unfortunately, we arrived too late to go to any bars.  I slept in a room with around forty other girls.  I use the term ‘slept’ loosely.
